A young girl arrives in New Orleans in search of her missing father, a veteran of the Vietnam War. She asks for help from a retired Marine scout, and now the unemployed Chance Boudreaux. It is from him that the girl learns that her father was the town beggar in recent years, and more recently the police found his corpse in a burnt warehouse. Chance is absolutely sure that this is not an accident, so he offers the girl to do her own investigation. After a while they become aware of a certain criminal group that suits a rich people for something like a safari, but instead of wild animals homeless vagrants are involved, which no one will look for. Now Chance and the deceased's daughter are the main targets for bandits.
